Anchorman Symbols and Payouts
Anchorman is a five-reel video slot with 25 paylines. It calculates wins adjacently, beginning at the leftmost reel. Interestingly, Anchorman adjusts the paytables according to your bet.
Anchorman’s high-value symbols are represented by Ron, Champ, Brick, and Brian. Low-paying icons include the four-legged fluff ball, Baxter, a whiskey glass, cowboy hat, aviator sunglasses, and the Channel 4 news van. You’ll see special symbols like the wild, scatter, and Whammy!, too.
Our Anchorman slot review team also found alternate sets of symbols for Ron’s Giant Free Games. These include the usual wild and various pictures of Ron and Baxter.
The red, yellow, blue, and orange icons have a higher value than the blue, green, and sepia-colored symbols.
During the Whammy! Free Games feature, high-paying icons include Champ, Ron, a diner, chicken, and coleslaw. Meanwhile, low-value symbols are represented by a bat, baseball bats, and a cowboy hat.
In the base game playing the minimum bet, Ron pays $2.00 each for five, while his friends pay $1.50. With a maximum stake, these values are $400 and $300, respectively.
Anchorman Min / Max Bets
You can cover all 25 paylines with a minimum bet of $0.75, while the maximum you can stake is $150 per spin.
Anchorman RTP, Volatility & Hit Frequency
Anchorman RTP sits at 96.03%, which is about the average. With low to medium volatility, you can expect smaller wins frequently, but big wins are still possible.
Plus, the amount of minigames and special features means there are more bonus round opportunities.
Anchorman Jackpots and Maximum Win
During our Anchorman slot review, we discovered three fixed jackpots up for grabs. Landing a scatter symbol on the second, third, and fourth reels during the base game gets you one spin of the Big Bonus Reel.
Among other prizes, you can win the Nice Jackpot, the Very Nice Jackpot, or the Really Good Jackpot. Anchorman adjusts the value of these jackpots according to your stake, with a maximum of $5,000, $20,000, or $200,000, respectively.
You can also win a maximum of 1,000x your bet (which may surpass the biggest jackpot) during the Big Bonus Feature.
In this part of our Anchorman slot review, we’ll tell you all about the game’s zany and exciting features. Learn about the Mystery Stack Reel, Ron’s Reels, the Baxter Wilds Feature, and the Big Bonus.
Plus, find out how Ron’s Giant Free Games, Whammy! Free Games, Brick’s Weather Wheels, and the Sex Panther Pick features work.
Wilds and Other Base Game Features
In true Anchorman style, the wild is rendered in bright and cheeky words, stating, “this is a wild.” It substitutes for all icons except the scatter, represented by the word “bonus” inside an upward-facing yellow arrow.
In Whammy! Free Games, the wild can’t substitute the alternate scatter symbol, shown as the word “Whammy!”, either.
Anchorman doesn’t come with stacked or walking wilds during normal gameplay, but three special features can randomly trigger. The first one is the Baxter Wilds Feature, which awards three to 10 wilds on the second to fifth reels.
Next, the Mystery Stack Reels round randomly replaces symbols, including the wild, across all reels. This often results in stacks and better winning combinations.
Lastly, there’s Ron’s Reels, which only features the highest paying symbols and the wild. During these rounds, the scatter symbol isn’t available.
Anchorman Free Spins
Anchorman has two types of free spin rounds, each with unique characteristics and rules. You can only trigger them during the Big Bonus Feature by spinning the wheel and landing on their icons.
Ron’s Giant Free Games
You’ll receive six free spins when you activate this feature. The screen expands into 19 rows and 117 paylines, with a different set of symbols, as mentioned earlier in our Anchorman slot review.
Wilds and Whammy! icons still appear, but the regular bonus symbol doesn’t.
Whammy! Free Games
This feature awards 12 free spins and also uses alternate symbols, including the Whammy! scatter and normal wild. The bonus icon is excluded. A ladder with 12 steps appears, each with a cash value.
Every time you land one or more Whammy! symbols, you’ll move up the ladder. Each level rewards a cash prize in ascending order of value. However, the amounts are based on your original stake.
Big Bonus Feature
If scatter bonus symbols appear on reels two, three, and four, during the base game, you’ll get to spin the Big Bonus Wheel. Apart from the free spins mentioned above, a range of other prizes is available, too.
You can get a multiplier of between 50x to 1,000x your bet, one of the fixed jackpots, or a cash award. You could also land one of the minigames, two of which we mentioned above.
The other two are below.
Brick’s Weather Wheels
This feature awards one initial spin on Brick’s Blue Wheel, then the Green and Red Wheels if you manage to level up. Each wheel has better prizes than the last, including cash rewards and, ultimately, a running total multiplier of 2x to 10x.
Sex Panther Pick
This pick-and-play feature awards three picks from 15 bottles, each containing a cash reward and maybe an extra pick. In the end, you’ll get to choose a packet with a multiplier of 2x to 10x your running total.
Graphics & Sound
The same sense of sassy humor from the movie is evident in this Anchorman slot. The main characters are portrayed in hilarious poses, accentuated by a cheeky retro color scheme. Meanwhile, a soundtrack with songs like “Every 1’s a Winner” plays in the background to complete the theme.
